pépéOS

A Raspberry Pi 4 media appliance for Pépé: TV interface, Pi-patched mpv, HDMI-CEC remote control, optional Wi-Fi/WireGuard, and HDMI or analogue audio. One image: rpi4-appliance-image.

Use it

  1. Flash and configure a supplied image. No Nix needed.
  2. Optionally configure Wi-Fi or WireGuard.
  3. See operation and updates for audio, controls, troubleshooting and updates without reflashing.

Public default: admin / pepe, with passwordless sudo. Change or lock the password yourself; adding an SSH key does not disable it. The web remote at http://PI_ADDRESS:8080/ has no authentication or TLS. Use trusted networks only.

Build it

On a configured Linux build host, from this checkout:

nix build --store daemon --no-write-lock-file --builders '' \
  --max-jobs 2 --cores 2 --out-link result-appliance .#rpi4-appliance-image

Image: result-appliance/sd-image/nixos-image-rpi4-uboot.img.zst. Building does not flash or deploy. See builds, tests and releases.

Status

Sustained high-bitrate/4K playback, rollback and fault recovery are not yet validated. Cage shutdown can time out. See known limitations and untested cases.

The stack is pinned in flake.lock; image builds contain no device credentials or administrator authorized keys. Files in artifacts/ describe historical images, not a current release.
